After overcoming a mountain like this, the rest of the week seems a breeze!
Mt Ogatake is purely a mental Journey. A 6 hour one way drive. Second, broken road for around 10 km just to get to the trailhead. Third, a summit that has no views at the top. Fourth, a trail that involves hacking your way through trees and shrubs. Fifth, heaps of insects biting you along the way!
This was one of the first times on the mountain that I actually felt that the mountain was hitting me and beating me down. Climbing through thick bushes, having the branches rip into my thigh muscles on my leg, falling down and sliding numerous times on the way down, it'll just made me feel like I was a punching bag. Due to the mud and dew on the plants, I practically rolled and slid down. You can see the cuts and redness in one of the the photos.
By the way, after Ogatake, I also climbed Mt Takanohara which was a walk in the park in comparison! I did trip on roots and fell down numerous times while trail running however.
All in all, it was a day that my body took a beating! This is what climbing the 301 famous mountains involves! I am happy to have cleared all the mountains in Fukushima prefecture!
