Today I headed to the Ishibitsu bus stop using the no. 40 bus from JR Futsukaichi station and walked up to Togami Shrine 砥上神社 to start my climb of Togamidake. I spotted a few locations along the way to explore. At the base of the mountain I walked around to an ancient tomb. There are a few on this mountain and one of them is clear and you can even go inside. You can learn more about this tomb here; https://chikuzen.ed.jp/archaeology/cultural05.html

I continued on up the mountain and stopped on the top for a break. I hiked down and decided to visit Yasunosato Park 安の里公園 on the way back to the bus and sat by the river for a while. It was good to go back to Togamidale and I forgot how nice the hike is.

Today I stayed close to home to save money and because the weather did not look so good.

For hiking training I hiked around Mt. Shioji and I visited the various archaeological ruins of the castle walls, thombs and buildings. The sun did come out for parts of the hike so it was still nice. To hike down I found a route I haven't used before which follows a mountain stream. I walked back to Shirakibaru station visiting many sites such as a tomb and the ruin of an ancient kiln.

A very cheap but rewarding hike.

Today we went to a Yakiniku restaurant with my family and in-laws. It was nice but I ate way too much. Afterwards we went hiking up Shioji and I struggled to defy gravity to reach the top. Bishamondo on Shioji was preparing for tomorrow the one day a year it is properly open.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new year's food and family time!

Today I reached up to 37 degrees in some places! Soo hot!

I took my daughter out all morning to Uminonakamichi to cycle around the park and see the animals. For the afternoon I went to Tenpaizan and walked up. I sat at the top for a while enjoying the view and my frozen lemon drink! On the way down I met a tiny praying mantis, good luck little green man!

I stayed nearer home today and hiked Ushikubiyama. I hoped to find more fascinating species but actually it was pretty uneventful. The area is pretty wild so I thought I would be able to see some snakes. I am still glad I was able to hike before the rain started.

After a long solo hike yesterday I rested recovered and headed out today for a family hike at Hiraodai.

We took the highway so we could start nice and early. My daughter came because I promised she could play splatoon 3 if she hikes!

We ebjoyed the amazing scenery and finidng lots of wonderful flowers and insects. Unfortunately we couldn't hike everywhere because the grasses had grown too long and were very thick in some areas.

After hiking we went for Ramen because my daughter loves noodles!
