Started from the lower level of Rakutenchi. Went up through the trail, reached mt. Otobaru and then continued on the path towards Otobaru waterfall. At the fork I took a little detour to check on the waterfall. There used to be two waterfalls there when I had gone in the past but now there is only one, I think after an earthquake.
Went back to the junction and continued the trail which goes round the waterfall. It is not well maintained, at some point a part of the trail had gone down and in another point it was blocked by two fallen trees which you had to go over them. After reaching a subodam I saw a car wreckage and went down to check it out, was kinda spooky.
After a while the trail opened up and became a lumberjack road. Kept on walking, at some points where the road had probably deteriorated they had put metal plates with the sign of Mickey Mouse. Passed by a parked track with nobody inside and while I was hiking one more car passed me by, these were the two cars I saw walking on that road.
A small 5-10 minutes detour took me to the mt. Shihonhata summit, there were no views. A bit more walking after and at some point there was an orange sign for the trail towards mt. Mukaihira, had to walk under an electricity tower. At some point I reached what looked like the end of the trail on a little ridge, need to be careful there as it's easy to make a mistake, had to a turn behind a sign and go steep down. And finally the last part was a pretty steep up, had to hold myself from trees. Reached mt. Mukaihira summit, no views there either. Had to be careful on the way down as it was really steep!
Went back through the same way but just before I reach the junction for the waterfall I decided to check on a little path and found a little surprise there :) Continued down and reached Rakutenchi lower level, it was a nice hike. And when I went home I found out a tick had hitched a ride with me, so be careful of ticks if you hike there.
