Kamiyama is a mountain with an altitude of 1,438m in Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture, and is the highest peak of Mt. Hakone. The name comes from the fact that it has been worshiped as a mountain of gods since ancient times.
One of the central crater hills of Hakone volcano, the western part of the mountain collapsed about 3,000 years ago, and sediments dammed the river in the caldera to form Lake Ashi.
According to "Mt. The ritual was held at the summit of Mt. In particular, it is said that the fact that Shosen opened the Shinsengu Shrine at Komagatake during the time of Emperor Kosho and worshiped Kamiyama as a sacred mountain had a great influence on the rise of mountain worship. At the summit of Mt. Komagatake, the Mikami Fire Festival is still held on October 24th, and it is said that it shows the remnants of the ancient ritual to Kamiyama.
When the eruption alert level of Mt. Hakone was raised to 3 on June 30, 2015, Kamiyama was also subject to entry restrictions and continues to this day.
