It is a volcano that straddles Tochigi and Gunma prefectures, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains by Kyuya Fukada. There are many lakes and marshes at the foot of the mountain, and it is attractive to be able to see many flowers. When you visit Nikko for sightseeing, it is hidden behind the avant-garde mountains, but the view of Mt. Nikko-Shirane from the surrounding mountains is extremely high, and it has a profound feeling that is suitable for being called the Oku-no-in of the Nikko Mountains.
It is the highest peak north of Kanto and is also a treasure trove of alpine plants such as Glaucidium palmatum.
From the top of the mountain, you can see a 360-degree view of Mt. Fuji, including the mountains of Nikko.
