The Hozumi Family Residence consists of a main house, a nagaya-mon gate (a traditional row-house style gate), a front storehouse, a costume storehouse, and a garden.
The main house was built in 1773 (An’ei 2 of the Edo period). It features a yosemune-style hipped roof with a partial irimoya (hip-and-gable) structure, and is topped with a dignified, thick thatched roof layered in several tiers.
The stroll-style garden within the premises covers approximately 330 square meters (about 100 tsubo). It is an elegant Japanese garden, complete with a pond spanned by a stone taiko-bashi (arched drum bridge).
