Tackling the five peaks of Mt. Mimata

course：Mimata West Peak, Mimata Main Peak, Mimata North Peak, Mimata South Peak, Mimata IV Peak （三俣山（西峰）・三俣山（Ⅳ峰）・三俣山（本峰）・三俣山（北峰）・三俣山（南峰） Arriving a bit passed 5AM at Chojabaru, the parking was already almost full. After some preparations we started our hike just before 6AM, while it was chilly （just 2 degrees）and still dark, to circle around Bogatsuru before ascending to the the first peak of Mimata. From this first peak, West peak, it was not too difficult to get to the main peak. The path from the main peak to the North Peak was very steep and slippery, no sturdy footing, just sliding down keeping hold of the ropes that are attached there. The circle around the old crater via the North peak to the South Peak isn't any easy walk. The path is very narrow, and while getting caught in the plants countless times we did get to see some gorgeous views towards the Main Peak, the still smoking mount Aso area and even the two tops of Yufudake greeted us like the ears of a cat sticking out from the clouds. We passed through parts with beautiful foliage and after arriving at the South peak we were welcomed with 360 degrees panoramic view of the area. After taking in the last peak we started our long descent back down to Chojabaru.
